  • Buy pretty poster paper. Paste various Ramadhaan charts/fact sheets/calendar/ayaats relating to fasting and hadeeth. Cut out the title out of construction paper and glue it on. You may also use ideas for the poster board from here: http://www.yemenlinks.com/Ramadan_Board.htm
  • You can also add the daily meal planner to help you in preparing ahead of time etc.
  • Print the calendar to put up on your Ramadhaan board. Go to http://tjramadan.blogspot.co.uk/. Look around and you’ll see the Lesson and Activity Pages; there you’ll find the specific activities and sheets needed.
  • So this would be the Journal Activity for the first day:
  • Everyone who fasted got a strip of construction paper to staple/glue into a ring and by the end of the month….they should have a chain of 29-30 rings and it is pretty going around the ceiling. We made one for zawji too so we had 4 chains each starting from one corner of the room and meeting in the middle of the ceiling and with the ends hanging from the middle of the ceiling.
  • You can also have them color a page with this coloring book and read a page a day
  • You can read stories as an extra activity
  • Make a sadaqah jar…..this is a great time for the children to remember the poor and needy…..have them share with the poor and needy especially generously this month to be distributed at the end of Ramadhaan inshaaAllaah. After ‘Eid keep this jar and see what the children can collect for the entire year for next years’ Ramadhaan, except next Ramadhaan you won’t need to make a new one but instead they can add a generous amount more to the already all year long collection bi’ithnillaah.

Hope you find this beneficial inshaaAllaah. I advise to start printing! One mistake I made last year was not printing all this stuff ahead of time and then found it a lil overwhelming to organize /prepare when needed. So a quick outline:

-Start putting the poster together as it can be a great reference tool for what needs to be done.

-Make a binder just for this month and keep copies of everything in there to use from year to year. Then make a copy for each child to place into their own binder for that schooling year.

-Make a schedule:

-review/memorize qur’aan

-Cover the lessons in the daily Ramadan activity lessons and pages

– Fill out ramadan daily journal (have younger children do only the first page)

-You may do the coloring/story reading after iftar to have the children continuing benefiting even before bed.

-Engage your children in the taraweeh prayers…..boys go with their dad to the masjid, girls can stay home with the ladies (you can also have ladies residing in the same building/complex come together nightly for taraweeh at one anothers home).

-Make a Sadaqah Jar…..you can make these in a variety of ways. We didn’t have a jar at hand last year so we used a fancy box.

-Have construction paper/glue/stapler to cut out strips and make a fasting chain for each person fasting. The colorful the paper the better it looks and you can find an assortment of varieties nowadays, mashaaAllaah.

We will be stopping all secular schooling activity. This is a perfect month to shape up and increase in qur’aan bi’ithnillaah.

May Allaah reward the sisters for putting together such resourceful sites, aamiin.

Dunya and Akhirah List

Mustafa George advises that, “For the last 10 nights of Ramadhaan, its a good idea to make a list of things that you want in the dunya and in the Next life. And then ask Allah for those things. Indeed, He gives without any measures” [Practical Way to Benefit from Ramadhaan].

Listen to some Dua’ to Ask For

Printable Dunya/Akhira List

Putting some thought into what you want to supplicate Allah for during the month of Ramadhan, hopefully, your dua’a will be more focused, more intentional, and more meaningful. Not only that, but you will not struggle to ‘remember’ what it is you wanted to say.  And, as you think about what to put on the list, you will be able to search your mind  deeply enought to remember those who are less fortunate that you.

Print Tip

  • Look at Page Handling
  • Choose paper source by PDF page size

A very very quick note so that I don’t forget to share this valuable piece of advice with you.

My dear sister in Mecca told me that years ago she heard a khutbah wherein the khateeb advised the congregation to make a dunya wa akhirah list before laylatul qadr begins.

In it, he said that they should put anything they want in both dunya and akhirah and write it down.

He further explained, that laylatul qadr is definitely on one of the last ten nights of ramadan, and so make dua for your whole list every night of ramadan. If you do this, then everything you have asked for will be answered insha’Allah.

The dear sister did this and was shocked at it not only being answered, but the ways in which her duas were answered. SubhanALLAH!!
