[♦] Part 2: How to Create a Month of Ramadhan Activities & Lessons

Step 2 —  Choose at least 30 from the  Course of Study Planner that you filled out. This was step #1.

Fill in the Ramadhan Daily Educational & Activity Planner (RDEAP) with the selected activities.  Download the RDEAP Guide 1-page format, or the RDEAP Guide 2-page format.

Schedule one or more activities/lessons per day. Don’t worry about over planning.  And be open to doing an activity more than once, especially if it is a hit.

Here is an example:

Pre-Ramadhan Wed 8/4  Make Ramadhan calendar; Make countdown chain; Read 1 Juz (break up into five 20-min sessions)

Day 1 Thu 8/5 Make Ramadhan Mubarak mobile; Read 1 Juz (break up into five 20-min sessions);  Ramadhan Butterflies project

Day 2 Fri 8/6 Attend Jumuah; Read 1 Juz (break up into five 30-min sessions); Dehydration Lesson

The Ramadhan Course of Study Planner (RCOS Planner pdf) has to be filled out first, of course. Read all about that HERE.

Insha’Allah, we will go over Step 3 next week.

[♦] How to Create a Month of Ramadhan Activities & Lessons for Your Family

Step 1 — Ramadhan Course of Study Planner A month before Ramadhan is a good time to begin planning activities for the children/students.

Start with the Ramadhan Course of Study Planner (Download RCOS Planner pdf). Use this form to gather all of the resources available to you.

Write down which websites,  books, audio, video, surah/ayah #, hadith book and number, reference books, maps, worksheets, handouts, and projects you think your children/students will like. You probably won’t use all of them but it is better to have too much than not enough.

QUESTIONS________________________________________________

[♦] Question: When should a girl start fasting?
A girl reached the age of 12 or 13 years and the blessed month of Ramadhaan passed without her having fasted. Is there any sin upon her or her family? Is it upon her to fast and if she doesn’t then is she sinning?

[♦] Answer:  The girl becomes Islaamically bound with (the following) conditions: Islaam, sanity and puberty. Puberty is attained either by menstruation, or the excrement of discharge as a result of sexual desire, or having a wet dream if she saw the discharge, or the growth of thick hair around the front private part, or reaching the age of 15 years. So if this girl fulfilled the conditions of being legally bound by Islaam, fasting is obligatory upon her and it is a must that she makes up the fasts she left off while being at that age. And if one of the conditions are not fulfilled then there is nothing required of her.

And with Allaah lies all the success, and may Allaah send prayers and salutations upon our Prophet Muhammad (sal-Allaahu `alayhe wa sallam) and his family and his companions.

The Permanent Committee for Islaamic Research and Verdicts (AbdurRahman.org)

[♦] Question: Does fasting have any social benefits?
Does every day on which the fast is performed in Ramadan require an intention, or is it sufficient to make one intention for the whole month?

[♦] Answer: Yes, it has social benefits. From them is the feeling people have that they are one nation eating at one time and fasting at one time. The wealthy one is cognizant of Allaah’s blessings and is sympathetic to the poor. Fasting lessens shaytaan’s treachery to the son of Aadam. In fasting there is piety of Allaah, and piety of Allaah strengthens the bonds between the individuals of the community.

QUESTIONS________________________________________________

[♦] Question: Is the fast invalidated by tasting food?
Does every day on which the fast is performed in Ramadan require an intention, or is it sufficient to make one intention for the whole month?

[♦] Answer:   Tasting food does not invalidate the fast, if a person does not swallow it. But you should not do it unless there is a need for it; and in this situation, if any of it enters the stomach without your intending it, then your fast in not invalidated. — Shaykh Muhammad bin Saalih al-`Uthaymeen,  Fatwa Islam

QUESTION & ANSWER_____________________________________________

Question: Intention for Fasting Ramadhan
Does every day on which the fast is performed in Ramadan require an intention, or is it sufficient to make one intention for the whole month?

Answer:   It is sufficient in Ramadan to make one intention at the beginning of it, because even if the fasting person did not make an intention for every day the night before, that was has intention at the start of the month.

But if the fasting is broken during the month due to a journey, or illness or the like, he must make the fresh intention, because he has broken it by abandoning the fast due to travel, illness or the like.
