Craft Sticks: Craft for Matching Game

Introduction:

This is a simple game for children to make and yet fun to play.  It will help children pass the time insha’Allah while they are fasting.

Supplies:matching craft sticks supplies

  • Jumbo Wood Craft Sticks (5 7/8-in  x 11/16-in)
  • Decorations: Stickers or Markers or Crayons or Washi Tape
  • Glue or Modge Podge

  • If Using Markers:
    Guide the child to lay two craft sticks side-by-side touching each other.
    Keep the sticks held together with the left hand while drawing on them with the right.
    Draw a symbol on one stick then immediately draw the same symbol on the other.
    Continue decorating the craft sticks in this manner until satisfied with the design.
    The child can also plan out his craft stick designs by creating it with pencil and paper first.
  • If Using Stickers or Washi Tape:
    Guide the child to lay two craft sticks side-by-side.
    Attach a sticker to one craft stick then immediately put a matching sticker on the other stick.
    Continue decorating the craft sticks in this manner until satisfied with the design.
    If needed, use glue to make sure items stay.
    Let craft sticks dry completely before playing the game.
  • Tip:
    Use a combination of stickers, washi tape, and markers for some really creative and fun sticks!

How to Play This Game:matching craft sticks play

  • Turn the sticks over with the design-side facing the table.
  • Shuffle the sticks.
  • Players take turns round-robin style.
  • Have players take turns turning over any two sticks to see if they match.
  • Players keeps any matching sticks they find.
  • Sticks that do not match are returned to their places on the table.
  • The winner is the player with the most matching sticks.
