«Let Them Play»

Al-Rubay’ bint Mu’awwidh – Allah be pleased with her – said while describing how the Prophet – Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – told them to fast ‘Ashura:

We used to make toys out of dyed wool for the children and keep them with us so if the children asked us for food we would give them the toys to distract them until they completed their fast.  —  Sahih Muslim. A similar narration is also in Sahih Al-Bukhari.

Al-Nawawi states in his commentary on Sahih Muslim:
In this narration we are shown that children should be trained to do acts of obedience and made used to doing worship; although they are not legally bound.

aqua bodiesWater: Healthy Hydration Lessons & Activity Pack

Fasting, especially during the summer months, require that we pay attention to our intake of fluids.

We found some activities on the web that teach the importance of water to the human body. The lessons are geared toward children ages 8 – 12 but can be modified for those who are younger.

It may be easier to teach this just before Ramadhan when it’s easier to talk about food and water while no one is fasting.

Go {HERE} to print these activities. NEW! 2014

Ramadhan Writiing PromptsRamadhan Writing Prompts

We’ve developed a set of writing prompts this year. Writing prompts are ideas to write about. These prompts center around some aspect of Ramadhan or Islam.

Parents, this is a no-brainer for you as you don’t have to think of a single topic to assign; it’s all been done for you.

If your children are in the pre-writing stage, have them respond to the prompts verbally..

Download the Ramadhan Writing Prompts page for this activity.
